Captain Mario Magonga, the official pilot for Deputy President William Ruto, died in a plane crash in Lake Turkana, Turkana County, alongside four American citizens. The incident occurred on the evening of March 3, 2019, when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed on Central Island in the lake.
The deceased passengers were reportedly tourists who had visited Lobolo Tented Camp within the island’s national park. Their remains are scheduled to be transported to Wilson Airport for further handling.
