William Kamket, Tiaty Member of Parliament, has called on Deputy President William Ruto to address the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rather than making public statements.
During a Sunday address in Akwichatis, Tiaty Sub-County, Kamket criticized Ruto for downplaying the controversy by asserting the disputed amount is Ksh.7 billion, not the Ksh.21 billion cited by the DCI. "This is an active investigation. Take that information to the DCI headquarters. Don’t tell us 'it was only seven billion' when what we want is dams and water," Kamket stated.
The MP also directed remarks at former Minister Kipchumba Murkomen, urging him to submit his parliamentary statements about the project to law enforcement. Ruto had previously dismissed claims of Ksh.21 billion in losses during a March 2019 judiciary report launch, citing a lower figure.
Last Thursday, Ruto reiterated his stance that the amount in question is Ksh.7 billion, contradicting the DCI’s findings. The dispute centers on the financial mismanagement allegations surrounding the Elgeyo-Marakwet County dams project.
