Kapseret MP Hon. Sudi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of leveraging a political handshake to consolidate power, claiming it undermines Deputy President William Ruto's influence. The allegations emerged during a public address in Eldoret, where Sudi criticized the president for prioritizing personal ambitions over national interests.
"When a hyena seeks to devour its own young, it falsely claims the child smells like a goat," Sudi stated, comparing Kenyatta's actions to predatory behavior. He urged Ruto to clarify the implications of the 2018 political alliance with Raila Odinga, warning that unresolved tensions could escalate.
The MP emphasized that Rift Valley residents are weary of political machinations, asserting, "Ruto's supporters are not naive. They have endured enough patience." Sudi also accused Kenyatta and Odinga of exploiting anti-corruption campaigns to target Ruto's allies, a claim the president's camp has not addressed publicly.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago echoed concerns about leadership accountability, advising Kenyatta to reflect on his origins. Meanwhile, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa called for transparency, stating, "If Uhuru acknowledges corruption has worsened under his leadership, he must dissolve the government and call for new elections." Barasa noted Bungoma voters initially supported Kenyatta due to Ruto's influence but now express disillusionment.
