New details have surfaced about the regeneration of seven Nairobi estates, with six companies securing multi-billion shilling contracts to construct affordable housing units.
The project, which has faced repeated delays since its initial 2018 announcement, now includes specific developer assignments and implementation guidelines approved by the city assembly's Planning and Housing committee.
Technofin Kenya, Green Ederman Property, Green Prestik Limited, Jabavu Village Limited, Stanlib Kenya, and Directline Assurance Limited were selected to redevelop Old and New Ngara, Jeevanjee, Suna Road, Ngong Road Phase I and II, Bachelors Quarters, and Pangani Estate.
Earlier plans to launch the Pangani Estate regeneration in September 2018 were indefinitely postponed amid scrutiny over contractor selection and project terms.
