Gospel musician Hopekid is facing serious allegations after a student accused him and fellow artiste DK of luring her to their residence, engaging in a sexual encounter, and transmitting an incurable sexually transmitted infection.

The artist publicly apologized for the incident, acknowledging his actions as a personal failure that disappointed fans. He emphasized that life must continue, leading to the release of his new single "Nakupenda," described as a love song for married individuals.

"Nakupenda is purely a love song for the married folks out there because I am ready to get married. My suit is ready," Hopekid stated in an interview with Kiss100.co.ke.

When questioned about rumors of abandoning his gospel music roots, Hopekid clarified that his current work focuses on uplifting and entertaining audiences through various genres, including love songs and spiritual tracks. "What is gospel? I am saved, and that is what matters, but I am not yet saying if I am turning into a secular artiste," he added.

The singer revealed he encountered both support and rejection during the controversy. While some religious figures distanced themselves, he credited a pastor for standing by him. "I found a man of God who believed in me and walked with me through it all. Some pastors shunned me, ignoring my calls and even blocking me after misinforming me," he shared.

A 2016 image of Hopekid was referenced in the original report, highlighting the timeline of the allegations.
