On July 31, 2019, reports emerged that Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok had been rushed to the Nairobi Hospital after suffering a mild stroke.

However, in a statement, Governor Nanok denied the allegations, stating that he was only admitted to the hospital for medical tests, which turned out to be good.

“Colleagues. Ignore social media about me. I do not have a stroke and nobody should wish I have one! I was unwell last week and admitted majorly to undertake medical tests which turned good. Still on medication but able to attend duty,” he said.

According to sources at the hospital, Nanok was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit after doctors recommended close monitoring.

“An endoscopy was done and an MRI scan. He was immediately put on physiotherapy as it was suspected to be a mild stroke on the left side of his face,” a source from the hospital confirmed.
