Deputy President William Ruto's pilot, Captain Mario Magonga, and four American nationals were killed when a helicopter crashed in Turkana on Sunday evening, with the wreckage and remains discovered the following morning.

The National Police Service confirmed the crash occurred at approximately 8:00 PM on Sunday at Central Island National Park in Lake Turkana, resulting in the deaths of all five people aboard.

Two helicopters had previously landed at Labolo Tented Camp within the national park, though one successfully departed the area. Recovery operations are ongoing at the crash site, with security personnel assisting in the process.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to authorities.
