On July 29, 2019, Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok was hospitalized after suffering a suspected mild stroke, according to reports.

However, in a statement released on July 30, 2019, Nanok denied the allegations, stating that he was unwell and admitted to the hospital for medical tests, which turned out to be good.

"Colleagues. Ignore social media about me. I do not have a stroke and nobody should wish I have one! I was unwell last week and admitted majorly to undertake medical tests which turned good. Still on medication but able to attend duty," Nanok stated in a text message to media houses.

The Council of Governors (CoG) also issued a statement, saying Nanok was having dinner with his family, further dispelling the rumors.
