Co-operative Bank of Kenya has committed Sh20 million to the Beyond Zero Half Marathon, marking its fourth financial contribution to the initiative since 2014. This latest donation raises the bank's cumulative support to over Sh57 million across five years.
The funding has enabled the acquisition of three fully equipped mobile clinics, distributed to Narok, Nandi, and Kirinyaga counties. These clinics align with the campaign's mission to reduce preventable maternal and child mortality, a goal established when the project launched in 2014.
Bank group managing director Gideon Muriuki highlighted the First Lady's leadership, stating, "Only a mother can fully understand the challenges our women go through every day as they struggle with maternal healthcare and the pain of losing children for things that can be avoided if we work together." He emphasized the importance of grassroots health support, urging corporations and citizens to collaborate on wellness initiatives.
In addition to the monetary contribution, Co-operative Bank will field two teams to participate in the half marathon event scheduled for this Saturday.
