Nairobi Stima maintained their unbeaten record in the Football Kenya Federation National Super League after a 1-1 draw with Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium on Sunday. The result kept the George Owoko-coached team perfect in 18 matches ahead of the mid-season break.
Shabana took the lead in the 33rd minute when Hamisi Hadi headed in a cross from Bob Mugalia, capitalizing on poor marking by Nairobi Stima. The home side entered halftime with a 1-0 advantage, with club patron Jared Nivaton among the crowd of thousands.
Victor Omune equalized for the visitors in the 58th minute with a long-range strike after Shabana's defensive lapses. The goal came hours after Shabana head coach Gilbert Selebwa made an early substitution, replacing Karistus Machasio with Nixon Amulundu to bolster his midfield.
Stima defender Joseph Shikokoti was instrumental in limiting Shabana's scoring chances. Owoko acknowledged the challenge of playing at Gusii Stadium but criticized the referee for denying his team a penalty after Paul Kisige was fouled in the box during the first half.
Selebwa expressed disappointment at losing potential points, stating his team would strengthen its squad during the mid-season break. 'We faced an experienced side but failed to secure two crucial points,' he said.
