On Monday night, a dramatic shootout unfolded in Nairobi's Kilimani area, resulting in the fatal shooting of two suspected gangsters by police officers.
The incident began when a Nigerian national, Taiwo Gbenga, was robbed by a four-man armed gang while walking along Makueni Road in Kileleshwa. The thieves made off with two mobile phones, a wallet containing bank cards, a driving license, alien card, special pass clearance, a wedding ring worth Sh25,000, and a wristwatch.
Responding to the report, officers from Kileleshwa Police Station and the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) pursued the robbers. They eventually spotted the suspects' car along Nyando Road, leading to a shootout that left two of the suspects dead and two others with gunshot wounds.
Police recovered a shotgun, a fake pistol, two mobile phones, a claw bar, four master keys, seven bunches of keys, a gunny bag, and a wristwatch from the suspects. The bodies of the two deceased suspects were taken to the City Mortuary for identification, while a manhunt was launched for the two escaped suspects.
