Once a hub for criminal activity, Kamiti Corner along the Kiambu-Ruiru Road has undergone a significant transformation following security enhancements in 2019. A derelict bungalow, abandoned over a decade ago after repeated robberies, once symbolized the region's instability, with criminals looting its contents and leaving it in disrepair.

Local businesses like Ruturo Trading Centre had stagnated for years, while neighboring areas saw rapid development. However, security upgrades in 2019 have spurred a real estate boom, with projects such as Lifestyle Heights and River Run Estate emerging. These developments include high-end apartments, commercial spaces, and modern amenities like 24-hour security, gyms, and swimming pools.

Home Bridge's Lifestyle Heights project, featuring 420 units across 20 blocks, is 30% sold. Cytonn Real Estate's River Run Estate, valued at Sh15.3 billion, broke ground in April 2018, with 600 units planned. Optiven Group's Amani Ridge project, costing Sh8 billion, will include luxury housing, a mini-mall, and community facilities.

Real estate experts urge government investment in infrastructure to sustain growth. 'With better roads and amenities, developers will finally embrace this area,' said Jekmas Services director John Mwaniki.
