On July 31, 2019, Wazito FC, the newly promoted Kenyan Premier League team, made significant strides in shaping its squad for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
The team unveiled three big signings, including Burundi captain Karim Niziyigimana, formerly a Gor Mahia player, Rwandan Abouba Sibomana, and deadly forward Elvis Rupia, who joins from Zambia's top-flight side Power Dynamos.
"I was not sure whether to return to Kenya because I received offers from other clubs while playing at the Africa Cup of Nations," said Niziyigimana, who spent the last season at Uganda's Vipers.
Wazito FC has reportedly spent around Sh8 million on the new signings, a significant investment in the team's bid to compete in the Premier League.
The team has identified the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County and Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, as their home grounds next season.
Wazito FC will play Nzoia Sugar in its opening game on August 30.
