The Inua Jamii programme, aimed at benefiting 1.2 million Kenyans, including orphans, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, has disbursed Sh125 billion since its inception.
However, administrative hitches and corruption concerns have hindered the programme's effectiveness. For instance, in March, 10,917 registered beneficiaries failed to collect Sh87 million in stipends, highlighting the need for urgent and comprehensive reforms.
The review of the fund's operations, scheduled to start on August 4 and end on August 17, is a crucial step towards addressing these issues and ensuring the programme works seamlessly for the benefit of those who need it most.
