Ken Okoth, the late Kibra Member of Parliament, passed away on Friday after a long battle with colorectal cancer at the Nairobi Hospital.

According to his paternal family, they now want to bury him at Amoso village in Kochia ward, Homa Bay County, next to where his late father is buried.

Mr. Okoth's father, Nicholas Anayo Obonyo, lived with his mother Anjeline Ajwang in the area before they separated in the 1980s.

Following the separation, Mr. Obonyo then married another woman and passed away in 1993, and was buried in Kochia.

Family spokesman Raymond Mbai, who is the late Mr. Obonyo's nephew, stated that their family had been kept in the dark over burial arrangements despite sharing a lineage with MP Okoth.

"The family members want to make one point straight; we don't want to create wrangles, he was a national leader so we have to be in touch with the mother to be in touch with the wife," said Mr. Mbai.
