On July 30, 2019, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) saw a significant increase in trading on single stock future contracts, with a total of 12 contracts traded at closing bell.
For the second consecutive day, Safaricom was the only company to transact deals on the NSE's derivatives market, with a total value of Ksh335,200.
Of the 12 contracts traded, 10 were for contracts due to expire on September 19, while the remaining two were for contracts set to expire on December 19.
The contracts expiring in 51 days were worth Ksh280,000, while the December contracts were valued at Ksh55,200.
Other single stock contracts for Equity, EABL, BAT Kenya, and KCB, as well as the NSE-25 Share Index, posted no figures on the derivatives market.
The NSE also registered a market turnover of Ksh554 million, up from the previous session's Ksh471 million.
Market indicators finished in the red, with all indices declining.
The All Share Index (NASI) shed 0.58 points to stand at 148.44, while the NSE 20 Share Index edged down 0.61% to stand at 2630.35.
The NSE 25 Share Index was down 14.15 points to settle at 3594.39.
The Banking Sector had shares worth Ksh214 million transacted, accounting for 38.65% of the day's traded value.
The Construction and Allied sector had shares worth Ksh80.5 million traded, accounting for 14.54% of the day's traded value.
The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares worth Ksh66.7 million traded, accounting for 12.02% of the day's traded value.
Safaricom finished the day as the biggest mover, with 6.6 million shares valued at Ksh181 million changing hands at between Ksh27.40 and Ksh27.60.
The Bond market registered improved activity, with bonds worth Ksh4.6 billion transacted against Ksh3.6 billion posted the previous session.
