On the eve of the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League season, ambitious Wazito FC has made a bold statement of intent by unveiling three high-profile new signings.
The trio includes former Gor Mahia duo Karim Nizigiyimana and Abouba Sibomana, as well as striker Elvis Rupia from Zambian side Power Dynamo.
According to the club, Rupia, popularly known as Machapo, has been training with the team and impressed the technical bench.
Before departing for Zambia in July 2018, Rupia played for Nzoia FC, where he left as the club's top scorer with 15 league goals in 22 games.
Speaking to the club website, Rupia expressed his excitement about returning to the local scene and his eagerness to contribute to Wazito FC's success.
“It’s great to be back in the local scene and turning out for Wazito FC is a proud moment for me. I am looking forward to giving my all to ensure the team achieves its season targets,” Rupia said.
Abouba Sibomana, a Rwandan international, spent two years with Premier League giants Gor Mahia before leaving in January 2017 for his native country. He later rejoined APR before sealing a move back to Kenya.
Speaking after signing the deal, Nizigiyimana affirmed that he still had the energy to terrorize opponents in his wing and bring the killer passes.
“I will play as I have always played with my heart for Wazito,” he told the club website.
Wazito FC will begin the new season campaign with a match against Nzoia Sugar FC on August 20 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
