Published on July 30, 2019, the Ladies Coast Open Championship, also known as the Barry Cup, has entered its second leg at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya.
The tournament, which started at Leisure Lodge, has attracted entries from various clubs in the country as well as Tanzania.
Among the participants are Royal Nairobi's Serah Khanyereri, Kiambu's Joyce Wanjiru, Agnes Nyakio, and Mercy Nyanchama, Eldoret's Esther Chumo, and the legendary Florence Maina.
They will face a strong challenge from the Tanzanian team, which includes Angel Eaton, Hawa Wanyeche, Vicky Elias, Ayne Magombe, Neema Olomi, and Chiku Elias.
From Nyali, the ladies will move to the par 71 Mombasa Golf Club course on Thursday for the 18-hole Mombasa Cup, which is also a Golfer of The Year event.
During the first leg at Leisure Lodge, Nyali's Joyce Masai achieved a hole-in-one at the par three-fifth, her first hole-in-one in her career.
Results from other golf tournaments include:
- Theresiah Nyambura Memorial Golf Day at Thika: S.N. Njenga won with 42 points, while Duncan Ndungu and Kim Nderitu tied for second with 39 points.
- Chairman @ 50 Golf Day at Royal Nairobi: Shadrack Ogindo won with 40 points, while Pami Sokhi and Dr. Samwel Nyaoke tied for second with 37 points.
- IHRM Golf Day at Vet Lab Sports: Joshua Mwangi won with 44 points, while Gabriel Kihara and Elijah Njuki tied for second with 42 points.
- July Monthly Mug at Sigona: Deepal Shah won with 68 nett, while B.M. Njoroge and Aarnav Hindocha tied for second with 69 nett.
