On July 30, 2019, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) announced the availability of over 200 vacancies in different departments. The announcement was made through a newspaper advert.
According to the advert, KFS has 193 vacancies for record management assistants (clerical officers), 57 positions for drivers and plant operators, 47 positions for forester trainees, and 10 positions for forest management trainees.
Interested candidates who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply, indicating the reference number for the position. The application should include a current curriculum vitae, indicating current and expected remuneration, mobile number, names, and details of referees.
The Forest management trainees will undergo a mandatory basic paramilitary course as well as on-the-job training on forest conservation, protection, and management.
Julius Kamau, the newly appointed Chief Conservator of Forest, will oversee the recruitment process. Kamau is a renowned environmentalist and has served as the Deputy Executive Director for Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust and Executive Director at the East African Wild Life Society.
