The funeral of late Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso is set to take place on August 3, 2019, with the remains being interred at her marital home in Koru, Kisumu County.
A requiem mass will be held on Saturday at Bomet Green Stadium before the body is moved to its final resting place.
According to the family, Dr Laboso will be buried in Koru, her marital home, rather than her birthplace and county of Bomet, as she was officially married in Koru.
Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter, Narok Governor Samwel Tunai, and Cabinet Administrative Secretary for Petroleum John Mosonik are leading the committee organizing the burial.
Dr Laboso's deputy, Dr Hillary Barchock, will be sworn in as Bomet governor after the burial.
On a separate note, the national assembly has set up an ad-hoc committee to prepare for the final send-off of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, who passed away on July 26, 2019, at the age of 41 due to Colorectal Cancer.
