July 30, 2019 - Wazito FC has made a significant move in the Kenyan Premier League by signing former Gor Mahia duo Abouba Sibomana and Karim Nizigiyimana.
The pair, who joined Gor Mahia in January 2015 from Rwandese side Rayon Sports, were key players in the team's unbeaten league win under Frank Nuttal in 2015.
However, both players left Gor Mahia in 2017, with Sibomana's contract expiring in January and Nizigiyimana parting ways with the team in November after battling an ankle injury for close to a year.
Nizigiyimana later joined Ugandan side Vipers on a short-term deal in February to work on his fitness ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, but he played a bit-part role at the tournament.
Now, Nizigiyimana has promised to bring his trademark runs and crosses from the right flank to Wazito FC, saying, "I know people are asking if this will be the Karim of 2015 and I want to tell them that this is even a better version. I am ready to give my best at Wazito,"
The arrival of Sibomana adds experience and versatility at left back, where long-serving Dan Owino has been playing.
Wazito FC has also signed Elvis Rupia from Zambian outfit Power Dynamos, who scored 15 goals in the 2018 season while at Nzoia Sugar.
