Wazito FC has made a bold statement ahead of the new season by signing three new players, including former Gor Mahia defender Karim Nizigiyimana, who inked his deal on July 30, 2019.

Nizigiyimana, a rightback with several caps for the Burundian national team, joins fellow international Abouba Sibomana, a left fullback who has featured for Rwanda. Both players are expected to bring competition to Wazito's backline.

Speaking about his move, Nizigiyimana said, “I will play as I have always played with my heart for Wazito.”

For Sibomana, who joins from APR, Wazito represents a new challenge in his professional career, one he is eager to overcome.

Wazito's other signing is striker Elvis Rupia, also known as Machapo, who joins from Zambian side Power Dynamo. Rupia has been training with the team and has impressed the technical bench with his ability to blend with midfielders and fellow strikers.

“It's great to be back in the local scene and turning out for Wazito FC is a proud moment for me. I am looking forward to giving my all to ensure the team achieves its season targets,” Rupia said.

Before departing for Zambia, Rupia played for Nzoia Sugar FC, where he left as the top scorer with 15 goals in 22 games.

Wazito's total number of signings this window now stands at seven, with Nzigiyimana and Sibomana joining former Vihiga United skipper Bernard Ochieng, who signed three weeks ago. The team has also signed two goalkeepers, Kevin Omondi and Gad Mathew, to boost its defense.

Wazito will face Nzoia Sugar in their first KPL match on August 20th at the Kenyatta National Stadium, Machakos.
