Kenya has been selected as one of four countries to participate in the inaugural Qiantang Global Fintech Competition, set to take place in September 2019.

The competition, which focuses on innovative ideas in fintech, aims to create a global fintech community and provide a platform for global fintech entrepreneurship innovation, resources convergence, integration, and resonance.

The preliminary competition will feature teams from Kenya, the United States, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and several Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Guiyang.

The final competition will be held in Hangzhou, China in September 2019.

A panel of judges from academia and the global fintech industry will evaluate the participating teams.

The competition offers a total of Sh225 million in policy funds as rewards.
