On July 30, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta was set to depart for Kingston, Jamaica, for a historic visit at the invitation of Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
During his visit, Uhuru was expected to pay tribute to the iconic reggae singer Bob Marley by visiting his museum, a favorite musician of the President.
He would also visit the shrine of Marcus Mosiah Garvey, a Jamaican-born pan-africanist.
As a guest of honor, Uhuru would attend Jamaica's 57th independence anniversary celebrations.
State House spokesperson Kanze Dena announced that the two leaders would discuss opportunities for enhanced bilateral relations between Kenya and Jamaica.
