Kenya's national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, is gearing up for a crucial test in the Intercontinental Olympic qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Italy from July 2nd to 4th.
The team, coached by Shailen Ramdoo, will face stiff competition from hosts Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands in the event.
Coach Ramdoo, who took over in May, plans to use the qualifiers to determine the team's core players ahead of the World Cup in Japan in September.
Additionally, the coach will also use the Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco next month, to further refine his team's lineup.
Kenya finished second at the Africa Cup of Nations last month, losing to Cameroon 3-2 in the final.
However, Ramdoo's main target is to help the country return to the Olympics after an absence of over a decade, as Kenya last featured at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
