Xiaomi to Launch Budget Gaming Phone with MediaTek Helio G90T ¶
July 30, 2019 - Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has announced plans to release a budget gaming phone powered by the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. This move marks a significant shift in the gaming smartphone market, as Xiaomi aims to bridge the gap between high-end and budget gaming phones.
The Helio G90T is an octa-core chipset that features a 7nm Cortex-A76 core and a superior Mali-G76 GPU. It can support up to 10GB of RAM and up to 64MP main camera, making it a powerful contender in the budget gaming phone market.
MediaTek General Manager, TL Lee, confirmed that Xiaomi will be the first to use the G90 series chipsets in smartphones. Xiaomi India managing director, Manu Jain, also expressed excitement about the new phone, stating, 'We'll launch a phone with the incredible, high-performance G90T. Get ready for ultimate gaming!'
Just to prove how powerful the Helio G90T is, MediaTek compared it to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G, and apparently, the G90T is more powerful than both Qualcomm chipsets. This move by Xiaomi could potentially disrupt the gaming smartphone market, offering a powerful gaming experience at an affordable price.
