Published on July 30, 2019, David Kimosop, the former Managing Director of Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat (KVDA), has been locked up by the state for failing to raise 12 million shillings cash bail as ordered by the High Court sitting in Nairobi.
He is among top state officials accused of defrauding the government of close to 21 billion shillings in the Aror and Kimwarer dam scandal.
David Kimosop was arrested on Friday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he jetted back to the country from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Haji, Mr. Kimosop, along with other officials, conspired to defraud the government of 27.74 billion shillings between December 17, 2014, and September 27, 2018.
Lawyer Katwa Kigen, representing Mr. Kimosop, had requested the court to give him more time to present his client for plea-taking because he had traveled outside the country.
David Kimosop will be locked up at the Industrial Area Prison as he awaits trial.
