On the heels of the launch of the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G in September 2019, Huawei announced its entry into the Smart TV market with the Huawei Smart Screen TV.
According to Yu Chengdong, CEO of Consumer Business, the Huawei Smart Screen TV aims to bring users' day-to-day activities to the TV through cutting-edge technologies like AI Image Quality Engine, OS Technology, and HIAI Engine.
The TV will be equipped with three chipsets: Kirin AI, Hongjun Smart, and Gigahome Wi-Fi chips, supporting features such as GPU and Link Turbo, EROFS Super file system, Ark Compiler, and other Huawei smart technologies.
One of the standout features of the Huawei Smart Screen TV is its pop-up selfie camera, which supports facial recognition, as well as 8K decoding at 30fps and smart motion tracking capabilities.
The TV will also come with a built-in AI assistant and 5G support, making it a powerful and feature-rich device.
Interestingly, the Huawei Smart Screen TV will run on the HongMeng OS, an operating system touted as an alternative to Android.
It's worth noting that the Huawei Smart Screen TV is not to be confused with the Honor Smart TV, which is a more affordable option with some features missing.
While there's no word on when the Huawei Smart Screen TV will arrive in Kenya, it's expected to make its way to the market at some point.
