On July 26, 2019, renowned comedian Daniel Ndambuki, also known as Churchill, introduced the Taji Recognition Awards to recognize outstanding comedians in the industry.
The awards ceremony took place during the 3rd edition of the International Africa Laugh Festival at the KICC grounds.
Notable comedian Njugush was among the first recipients of the Taji Humour Recognition Award: Online Creator for his impressive digital presence.
Upon receiving the award, Njugush expressed his gratitude, saying, 'Wacha niseme napatiwaga Award lakini sijawahi pewa kama hii. I’m always treated as others. This means a lot. Thank you so much Churchill for recognizing what we do.'
NTV's Managing Editor, Emmanuel Juma, also received an award in recognition of his humor-filled weekly segment 'The Bull's Eye' on NTV.
Churchill explained the purpose of the Taji Recognition Awards, stating, 'We introducing something, an award we call Taji to recognize individuals who have done so much in this (comedy) industry.'
He further revealed that next year, fans will have the opportunity to choose the winners of the awards.
