Gor Mahia, the reigning Kenya Premier League champions, have appointed former striker Dennis Oliech as a technical assistant to help the team prepare for the upcoming season.

The appointment comes after head coach Hassan Oktay's imminent departure from the club, which has left the team in disarray as they prepare for the new season.

Oktay, who joined Gor Mahia in December 2018, is understood to be heading back home to Turkey to sort out some 'personal issues.'

According to reports, Oktay's future at the club has been thrown into uncertainty, and it remains unclear whether he will be able to resume his work.

As a result, Gor Mahia have reached out to Oliech to report to work and help assistant coach Peter Odhiambo in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Oliech has reportedly agreed to honour the call and will report to work on Tuesday, July 30, to help train the team for the new season.

It is worth noting that Oliech has previously worked with Gor Mahia, and his appointment as a technical assistant is seen as a move to help the team maintain their dominance in the Kenyan Premier League.

Under Oktay's leadership, Gor Mahia won the club's record 18th Kenyan Premier League title and also guided the team to the quarter-finals of the Caf Confederation Cup.
