On July 31, 2019, the 2019 Top Fry Classic Rally revved off in Nanyuki with 23 cars competing in the three-day event.
Leading the pack was Baldev Chager, who had just won his third Safari Rally title with Ravi Soni. Chager would be driving a Porsche 911 car, a change from his usual Four-Wheel Drive Mitsubishi Lancer.
Chager's team, Kabras, had entered four crews, including Chager and Soni, Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop, Onkar Rai and Gareth Dawe, and Tejveer Rai and Gavin Laurence, all driving Porsche 911 cars with a 30,000 cubic centimetre engine capacity.
The rally would cover approximately 600 kilometres of competitive stages, running through unique landscapes in northern Kenya.
The competition was flagged off by Laikipia County Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, and the drivers would tackle three competitive stages each day, averaging 250 kilometres per day.
The final day would feature a long competitive stage of 100 kilometres.
Other notable contestants included former winners Raaji Bharij and Rajay Sehmi, driving Porsche 911 cars, and two-time East African Safari Classic Rally champion Ian Duncan, who would be navigating with Anthony Nielson in a Rover V8 car.
