On July 30, 2019, Zetech University Sparks made significant strides in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's Premier League, securing their 10th win of the season against Strathmore University Swords.
With a score of 45-32, Sparks maintained their top four spot on the standings, earning 25 points from 10 victories and five losses. This achievement puts them just one point behind Swords, who have won 11 and lost four games.
Lucy Musyoki was a standout performer for Zetech, scoring 16 points, while Edna Kola of Strathmore University contributed eight points.
The match saw Sparks take the lead from the onset, securing the first quarter 15-11. Although Swords recovered to take the second quarter 9-7, Zetech maintained a narrow 22-20 lead at halftime.
The second half was marked by a dull third quarter, but Zetech's strength in the final quarter saw them sink 23 points against Strathmore's 12, ultimately securing the win.
Defending champions Equity Bank Hawks solidified their grip on the top spot by beating African Nazarene University (ANU) 71-43, while Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) overpowered University of Nairobi (UON) 76-37 to register their 10th win of the season.
