On July 30, 2019, Brazilian police announced they were closing their investigation into soccer star Neymar over allegations of rape in a Paris hotel in May.
The decision was made due to lack of evidence, according to an official from the attorney general's office.
A spokeswoman for the office told AFP that the case would be sent to prosecutors, who would have 15 days to evaluate the matter.
Ultimately, a judge would make the final decision on the case.
Neymar has repeatedly denied the allegations, which overshadowed Brazil's preparations for the Copa America tournament.
