On July 29, 2019, Wanjiru Karume made history by winning the Kiambu Ladies Open golf tournament at the par-72 Kiambu Golf Club course.
Playing off a handicap of seven, Karume dropped a shot at the first hole but quickly regained her footing, picking up five straight pars up to the sixth hole.
She dropped a shot at the seventh but finished the first nine with two back-to-back pars, setting the stage for her impressive victory.
Karume's five over par 77 was enough to win by two shots from Joyce Wanjiru, who took the runners-up prize.
Naomi Wakesho of Golf Park finished third with a score of 83 gross.
Meanwhile, Jane Kanyi took the nett title with a score of 72 nett, beating Faith Chemutai and Esther Mugure on countback.
Other notable winners included Hellen Chepkwony, who won the Bronze title with a score of 92 gross, and Lucy Mwangi, who took the Bronze nett title with a score of 69 nett.
