On July 29, 2019, the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) defended Knut Secretary-General Wilson Sossion over the Teachers Service Commission's (TSC) decision to deregister him.

According to Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, Sossion will continue to serve teachers, citing that the Labour Court ruling does not affect his position as an elected leader nominated and voted in by members of Knut.

Atwoli warned that no one should intimidate Sossion or try to manipulate the country's justice system to intimidate Knut, stating that any secretary-general should exercise their duties independently without coercion.

Mr. Sossion also maintained that deregistration by TSC does not affect his position in the union, stating that the matter under contestation has been exclusively on employment contract and not registration.
