Joyce Laboso's Husband Reveals Her Battle with Cancer

On July 29, 2019, Governor Joyce Laboso passed away at a hospital in Nairobi, leaving behind two sons, Bryan and Ted, and her husband, Edwin Abonyo.

Abonyo spoke to the press for the first time about his wife's illness, stating that she had been battling cancer for years but kept it private to avoid affecting her work.

"I can say she had been suffering from cancer for a long time, but she didn't want it to affect her work. She was a hard worker and didn't want anything to interfere with her duties," Abonyo said.

Abonyo also expressed gratitude to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy for their support during Laboso's treatment period.

"I want to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy for their support during my wife's treatment period," Abonyo said.

Deputy President William Ruto also commended Abonyo and his family for standing by Laboso during her illness.

"My wife's husband has been very important. Edwin and his family stood by her in a unique way," Ruto said.
