On Monday morning, Kenya's national men's basketball team, the Morans, touched down in Nairobi after a successful stint in Bamako, Mali, where they participated in the International Basketball Federation's AfroCan event.

Finishing second behind the Democratic Republic of Congo, the team, coached by Cliff Owour, defied expectations by bagging the silver medal in the inaugural Africa basketball event.

The Morans' impressive run saw them defeat several top African teams, including Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Morocco, en route to the final.

However, their bid for gold was thwarted by DR Congo, who emerged victorious with an 81-62 win in the final match played on Saturday.

Angola claimed the bronze medal after beating Morocco 88-71 in the third-place play-off match.

Host Mali secured fifth place with a 75-64 win over Chad, while Tunisia edged Algeria 68-67 in the seventh-place match.
