On July 29, 2019, Kenya lost a trailblazer in politics when Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso succumbed to cancer at Nairobi Hospital.
Laboso, who was 58 years old, had been battling the disease for several weeks, having been treated in the United Kingdom and India before being put on life support at the hospital.
Her family and the hospital had restricted the number of visitors earlier in the day, indicating her condition was worsening.
Laboso's death comes just days after Kibra MP Ken Okoth passed away due to cancer, and weeks after Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore suffered a similar fate.
Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok will now take over county affairs.
May Joyce Laboso rest in peace.
