Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, a 58-year-old politician, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Laboso had been receiving treatment in India and the United Kingdom before being transferred to Nairobi Hospital, where she succumbed to the disease on Monday.
She had been admitted to the hospital's ICU last week after being transferred from India, where she had been undergoing treatment.
Laboso had left the country on May 29 for the United Kingdom, where she stayed before being transferred to India for further treatment.
During her time out of the country, Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok had been running the county's affairs with the assistance of County Secretary Evalyne Rono.
