Four Suspects Detained in Kakamega Over Brutal Murder of Alleged Chicken Thief

Published on July 29, 2019, four suspects arrested in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, over the brutal murder of a suspected chicken thief were on Monday detained for 15 days.

The case Investigating Officer, Athman Ali, appeared before a Kakamega court and requested for more time to detain the four suspects pending conclusion of investigations into the incident.

According to Mr. Ali, the suspects, who were arrested on Sunday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), are set to undergo a mental test before they are charged with the murder.

Francis Muse Liseche, in a now viral video, was captured savagely cutting the alleged thief in public using a panga. The victim died from excessive bleeding.

Magistrate Hazel Wandere set the case for hearing on August 13, 2019.
