Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, a 59-year-old politician, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

According to reports, Laboso died on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Nairobi Hospital, where she had been admitted after returning from India, where she was receiving specialized treatment.

Just hours before her death, the Bomet County government had released a statement saying that the governor was 'recuperating well' and still under observation.

However, it appears that the governor's condition took a turn for the worse, and she succumbed to her illness.

Laboso had been seeking medical treatment in the United Kingdom before opting to seek further specialized treatment in India.

During her absence, Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok had been running point and had expressed confidence that his boss would be discharged soon.
