On July 29, 2019, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso passed away at Nairobi Hospital, bringing an end to her courageous battle with cancer.
Laboso had been undergoing months of cancer treatment abroad, visiting London and India before being transferred back to Kenya two weeks prior to her passing.
Earlier that day, her office had restricted the number of visitors to allow her sufficient rest, citing the advice of her doctors to limit visits for a speedy recovery.
‘The governor’s doctors have recommended she get enough rest for speedy recovery and advise limited visits,’ read a statement from her office, adding that she ‘acknowledges the overwhelming goodwill messages and prayers as she responds to treatment.’
