July 29, 2019 - Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has been placed on full bed rest after undergoing treatment in India for an undisclosed illness.

According to sources, the number of people allowed to visit the ailing governor has been restricted to enable her to recuperate.

Laboso has been undergoing intense treatment since her return to the country on June 14, after spending 46 days receiving treatment abroad.

She initially jetted to the United Kingdom in May where she was admitted at the Royal Madden NHS hospital before being transferred to India for further treatment.

During her absence, Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok took charge of county affairs alongside County Secretary Evalyne Rono.

Further reports indicate Laboso has been in the Intensive Care Unit for the last two weeks, with very close family being the only ones allowed to see her.

Doctors have recommended that she get enough rest for a speedy recovery and advise limited visits, according to a statement issued by Bomet county's Director of Communications Ezra Kirui.
