On July 29, 2019, British Vogue announced that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, would be guest editing their September issue.
The issue, titled 'Forces for Change', focuses on female changemakers and features a diverse range of women, including actress Yara Shahidi, model Adwoa Aboah, climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg, and activist Jane Fonda.
According to editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, Meghan Markle was heavily involved in choosing the women to feature in the issue, which includes a mirror on the cover to represent the readers and encourage them to use their own platforms to effect change.
Other notable women featured in the issue include model and former refugee Adut Akech, boxer Ramla Ali, Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern, and women's rights advocate Salma Hayek.
Meghan Markle opted out of a cover page for the magazine, instead choosing to focus on women's empowerment and steer attention away from her personal life.
The issue is set to be released on newsstands and digital download on Friday, August 2, 2019.
