Published on July 29, 2019, Oscar Sudi's journey from a humble tout to a Uasin Gishu power player is a testament to his determination and charisma.

As a tout in Eldoret town, Sudi's rise to wealth and influence is shrouded in mystery, with many questioning how he amassed his fortune.

However, his generosity and ability to connect with locals have made him a popular figure in the region, with many residents praising his willingness to buy drinks for revellers in popular restaurants.

When Sudi became an MP in 2013, he remained a peripheral figure until he joined a group of rebels opposed to Deputy President William Ruto.

However, he later mended fences with Ruto and has since become a key ally in the DP's camp, earning the support of the Langas Estate residents who have consistently voted for him.

Since early 2018, Sudi has taken advantage of the silence of other prominent leaders from the region to raise his stature in Ruto's camp, speaking boldly in his defence and capitalising on his rising popularity.

His recent tirades against President Uhuru Kenyatta have boosted his popularity, with many residents praising his boldness and willingness to speak truth to power.

As the ruling party disintegrates, Sudi's boldness and anger have exposed his growing influence in the DP's backyard, with many predicting that he will play a key role in the 2022 politics.
