Deputy President William Ruto has taken to social media to denounce a report by The Standard claiming he was snubbed by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
According to the report, President Kenyatta had allegedly avoided DP Ruto after he landed from a trip in Zambia, with sources at State House revealing the Uhuru had ditched protocol to go straight to the international passenger terminals.
However, in a swift response, DP Ruto termed the report as fake news and called out the owners of the Mombasa Road-based media house.
"FAKE NEWS ALERT!!! I was nowhere near JKIA. I am NOT surprised that some media houses & their owners are this desperate. Tuwasamehe tu!!," he posted.
DP Ruto was accompanied by Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, who was being hunted by the police at the time, and they were waiting for the President at the pavilion.
But in a series of events that officials tried to dismiss as a 'small deviation from the usual protocol', President Kenyatta went straight to the international passenger terminals, catching his deputy unawares.
