On July 28, 2019, Egan Bernal made history by becoming the first Colombian and youngest winner of the Tour de France in over a century.

The 22-year-old Ineos rider completed the 21-stage, 3,409km marathon around France, finishing 1min 10sec ahead of 2018 champion and teammate Geraint Thomas.

Colombian fans thronged the Champs Elysees to witness the traditional eight-lap finale, where Australia's Caleb Ewan won his third stage of the 2019 edition in a mass bunch sprint.
