On July 28, 2019, South Korean police detained Hungarian swimmer Tamas Kenderesi as they investigated allegations of sexual harassment against the Olympic bronze medallist.

Kenderesi, a 22-year-old who finished last in the men's 200 meters butterfly final at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, was arrested in the early hours of the day and questioned over an incident at a nightclub.

According to a police official, Kenderesi would not be allowed to leave South Korea for the next 10 days as the investigation continued.

Yonhap News Agency reported earlier that the athlete had denied the allegation.
