On Sunday, Mwamba RFC made history by clinching the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens title after a thrilling 27-7 win over Menengai Oilers in the Main Cup final at the Kinoru Stadium, Meru.
The team, led by Kevin Wambua, showcased their exceptional skills, scoring five tries and converting one, while Menengai Oilers managed only one converted try.
Kenyan international Billy Odhiambo played a crucial role in the team's victory, scoring a brace and helping Mwamba RFC complete a 100% win record at the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Mwamba RFC had taken a 15-0 lead by halftime, with Steve Sikuta scoring the first try and Tony Omondi missing the conversion.
However, Menengai Oilers fought back in the second half, with Austin Sikutwa scoring a center post try and converting it to make it 7-20.
But Mwamba RFC's Billy Odhiambo scored his brace, with Collins Injera converting it to make it 27-7 by full time.
Top Fry Nakuru RFC finished third, narrowly beating Kakamega sevens champions KCB 17-12, while Menengai Cream Homeboyz secured the 5th place with a 12-0 win over Nondescripts.
Impala Saracens defeated Strathmore Leos 21-14 to win the Challenge trophy, and Kenya Harlequins finished 13th after beating Catholic Monks 26-17.
Billy Odhiambo was awarded the MVP award in the second leg of the National sevens circuit, while Austine Sikutwa from Menengai Oilers was the top try scorer with 7 tries.
Mark Kwemoi from Impala Saracens scooped the Top points scorer with 56 points, and Tony Omondi from Mwamba was the Most promising player.
The National sevens circuit takes a break next weekend before resuming with Dala Sevens to be hosted by Kisumu RFC in a fortnight.
