On Sunday evening, Kenya's Harambee Stars were held to a 0-0 draw by hosts Taifa Stars of Tanzania in the first leg of the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifier match played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on July 28, 2019.

The team, coached by Sébastien Migné, was missing half of its players who had participated in the African Nations Cup in Egypt, as the tournament is meant for local-based players only.

Kenya had previously defeated Tanzania 3-2 in the group matches of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The return leg will be staged on August 4, 2019, in Nairobi, with the aggregate winner facing Sudan in the final qualifying round.

The 2020 Africa Nations Championships will be hosted in Cameroon between January and February.
